George R. R. Martin
George R. R. Martin is an American novelist and short story writer in the fantasy, horror, and science fiction genres, a screenwriter, and television producer. He is best known for his internationally bestselling series of epic fantasy novels, A Song of Ice and Fire, which was adapted into the HBO dramatic series Game of Thrones (2011–2019).
The Books
George RR Martin is the man behind the fantasy epic A Song Of Ice And Fire, better known to most as Game Of Thrones. He began writing the series back in 1991, and the first book – A Game Of Thrones – was published in 1996. Since then, five more have followed: A Clash Of Kings (1998), A Storm Of Swords (2000), A Feast For Crows (2005), A Dance With Dragons (2011)… and finally The Winds Of Winter, which is still yet to be released.

Tyrion Lannister is the youngest son of Tywin Lannister, the lord of Casterly Rock. He is known as “The Imp” because he was born with dwarfism. Tyrion is a gifted thinker and an expert tactician. He is also a deeply flawed individual who struggles with alcoholism and self-loathing. Despite all his flaws, Tyrion is one of the most popular characters on Game of Thrones thanks to his sharp wit and clever quips.
Arya Stark is the second daughter of Ned Stark and Catelyn Tully. She is headstrong and independent, with a strong dislike for traditional feminine pursuits such as needlework source . Arya spends much of her time training to be a warrior so that she can take vengeance on those who have wronged her family. She eventually becomes a Faceless Man after killing many people on her “list.”
Jaime Lannister is Tyrion’s older brother and Cersei’s twin sister. He is known as “the Kingslayer” because he killed King Aerys II Targaryen during Robert’s rebellion . Jaime is one of the best swordsmen in Westeros and he has served as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard since Robert Baratheon’s ascension to the throne . Jaime begins to question his loyalty to Cersei after she blows up half of King’s Landing with wildfire .
The Locations
The television show Game of Thrones is filmed in many different locations.
The show is set in the fictional Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The primary filming locations are Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland, Morocco, Malta, and Spain.
In Northern Ireland, the majority of exterior shots for the Stark family home, Winterfell, are filmed at Castle Ward and Toughinter Tower in County Down.
Other exterior shots for Winterfell are filmed at Castle Black. Interior shots for Castle Black are filmed at Magheramorne Quarry in County Antrim.
scenes set in King’s Landing, the capital of Westeros, are mainly filmed in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Malta was used to film some exterior shots of King’s Landing, as well as scenes in Qarth and the Red Keep.
Scenes set across the Narrow Sea in Essos were shot in Morocco and Iceland.
