The Allstar game: the history
The first All-Star Game was held on July 6, 1933, at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois, the home of the Chicago White Sox. The game was intended to be a one-time event to boost morale during the Great Depression and also to raise money for charity. Over the years, it has become one of the most popular sporting events in the United States.
The game is usually played in July and features the best players from the American League (AL) and the National League (NL). These players are chosen by a combination of fan voting and selection from baseball experts.

Others believe that it is still an important event that celebrates the sport and its top players.
What do you think? Should the All-Star game be continued? Why or why not?
The Allstar game: the players
The All-Star game is an annual event that takes place during the Major League Baseball (MLB) season. It is a showcase of the best players in the league, and the game itself is usually considered to be a competitive exhibition. This year, the All-Star game was held on July 9th at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. The American League team won the game by a score of 8-6.
There were a number of standout performers in the game, but perhaps the most valuable player was Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa. Correa went 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. He also made a spectacular defensive play in the sixth inning, robbing Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon of a hit.
Other noteworthy performers included Baltimore Orioles shortstop Manny Machado, who went 2-for-3 with a home run; Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu, who went 1-for-2 with two RBIs; and Los Angeles Angels pitcher Garrett Richards, who struck out two batters in a scoreless inning of relief work.
The Allstar game: the fans
As the Allstar game comes to an end, we can’t help but be in awe of the athleticism on display. The game is a chance for the best of the best to show off their skills, and they did not disappoint. But as always, the real winner of the Allstar game is the fans.
We were treated to some spectacular plays, including an amazing leaping catch by Mike Trout and a home run by Freddie Freeman that gave us all hope that maybe, just maybe, we’ll see another home run derby victory from him. But as good as those moments were, they pale in comparison to the moments that make us love this game and its players.
Moments like when players from rival teams embrace after a great play. Or when a player takes a moment to sign a ball for a young fan. These are the moments that make us realize why we love this game so much.
So congratulations to the American League on their victory, but more importantly, thank you to all the players for giving us some great memories that we’ll cherish for years to come.
